1970s
With growing attention to environmental issues, TAFNEL® began to be used in factories and wastewater treatment.
1974
During the heavy oil spill in the Seto Inland Sea, TAFNEL® was used extensively.
1991
In the Gulf War Oil spill, TAFNEL® was selected as part of Japan's government aid supplies.
1997
TAFNEL® played a major role in the heavy oil spill caused by the Russian tanker Nakhodka.
Since then, TAFNEL® has been used by the Japan Coast Guard and other government agencies, as weil as industrial facilities across Japan, as a basic stockpile item for environmental protection.
2001
Oil waste from business sites became a problem. Large amounts of white clumps (oil balls) washed ashore on the beach in Odaiba. Tokyo.
The cause was oil components from animals and plants that had accumulated in sewage pipes over many years. Oil disposal became a major issue in food service and similar industries, and TAFNEL® became an essential materials even in areas close to daily life.
2011
TAFNEL® proved its value duing the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was indispenseable in recovery operations involving fires and spills from large petroleum complex faciliries.
